DRIVERS LICENSE REQUIREMENTS

All Drivers must present a valid drivers license at the time of rental. We do not accept the following as a valid license:
* Learners Permit, Probationary License, Graduated License
* Copy or Faxes
* Unapproved International driving permit or license
* Mutilated or Altered License
* Licenses that are not in English or French
* Motorcycle License
INTERNATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Discount accepts drivers licenses from the country of origin and/or international drivers licenses from the following regions: North America, European Union, Norway, Switzerland, Australia, and New Zealand. A major credit card is always required in the name of the renter. Collision coverage is required either via a personal insurance policy or thru the purchase of Discount's CDW at regularly posted rates.
For clients with licenses from other regions, the following restrictions apply: An international drivers license is required, a major credit card is always required in the name of the renter, collision coverage is required either via a personal insurance policy or thru the purchase of Discount's CDW at the following modified terms: $39.99/day, deductible of $5000, Discount must be able to preauthorize the credit card for the amount of the rental plus $5000. For reservations booked online, Discount reserves the right to modify the cost and deductible for CDW at the rental counter.
CREDIT CARD REQUIREMENTS

Renter must present a valid credit card in their own name at the time of the rental, no exceptions. Photocopies, faxes, and card numbers dictated over the phone cannot be accepted.
A security deposit in the amount of $500 or the amount of the entire rental plus 10% (whichever is greater) will be authorized on the card. It is your responsibility to ensure available limit on your card.
Please be aware that Discount does not recognize any type of prepaid credit card (nor cards linked to bank accounts) as a valid card for security deposits. Please refer below under "Deposit Requirements" for a list of all accepted credit cards.
Credit cards are not required from corporate and government accounts that have a billable account already setup with Discount PEI, pending your internal guidelines (Purchase order numbers, etc)
CHILD SEATS

Please note that for liability reasons, we are unable to provide child seats or booster seats. Provincial regulations do require that your child be in a proper seat.
Age Requirements
Minimum Age: NONE
Age NONE to 24 -
Minimum age is 23 years old. Renters or additional drivers who are 23 or 24 are subject to a $12/day underage surcharge.
Additional Drivers
2 additional drivers permitted an additional chargeof $ 4.95 applies per day(per additional driver)

All additional drivers must present valid drivers license at time of pick up or during rental period before driving rental vehicle.
For additional drivers who are not family members of the principal driver, a credit card is required for security.
Minimum age and additional driver policies may differ for corporate / government accounts of Discount PEI. Please feel free to inquire as needed.
Deposit Requirements
Cash deposits are not accepted.

Optional Charges and Coverage
All rentals require a policy of insurance to cover collision and comphensive damage. Discount has various waivers programs to suit you needs. Best Coverage, Practical Assistance Package, and Insurance Deductible Waiver. We also accept insurance transfer and most credit card coverage however the renter must provide proof of insurance at the time of the rental.
Optional Rental Damage Waiver
Customers choosing to decline optional damage waiver must provide proof of collision and comprehensive coverage for the rental vehicle.
Acceptable proof is as follows:
Credit Card with rental damage coverage as an option
Documentation from customers insurance company detailing coverage for non owned vehicles

Navigation System
Including GPS in an online reservation should be considered a request as these unit are available on a first come, first served basis
Fuel Pre-Purchase Option
A full tank of fuel can be pre-purchased at the rental counter at the time of rental at $0.10 off the current street price of self-serve regular. Selecting this option allows the client to forgo the hassle of refueling before returning the rental car. Selecting this option on an on-line reservation should be considered an intention to purchase as the actual price depends on market conditions at the time of rental.
Optional Rental Damage Waiver
Customers choosing to decline optional damage waiver must provide proof of collision and comprehensive coverage for the rental vehicle.

Request Snow Tires
Snow tires are request only as availability depends on timely return of previous clients. Discount will make every effort to honor this request from Mid-November thru Mid-April
Cancelation Policy
Reservations should be canceled a minimum of 48 hours in advance.
Insurance and Coverage
We accept credit card coverage on the rented vehicle so long as the client provides proof of coverage.
We accept collision coverage transfer from a personal policy so long as the client provides proof of coverage.
Discount offers CDW products to cover the vehicle for collision if desired by the client.
Geographic Restrictions
Vehicles cannot be driven beyond the New England States and Eastern Canada without prior consent of the location. Please call location for applicable rates and restrictions. Unlimited kilometers only applies to vehicles driven within the maritime provinces. Vehicles driven outside the Atlantic provinces (PEI, New Brunswick & Nova Scotia) will be subject to 200 km free per day and $0.20/km there-after, starting at the beginning of the rental period.
Kilometer limitations may vary for corporate / government accounts of Discount PEI. Please inquire with us on an as needed basis.
